ABOUT
BARBARA NICHOLS
Barbara is a real
estate Broker, licensed General Contractor and owner of Nichols
Real Estate and General Contracting since 1987. She also has a
Masters degree in Business from Cornell University, and is a member
of the Cornell University Real Estate Council.
Since 1994, Barbara has served as
an expert witness in hundreds of Real Estate related lawsuits,
most of which involved lawsuits against agents and their brokerages.
Since August 2000, Barbara has authored
eleven articles for the National Association of REALTORS®
monthly publication, REALTOR® Magazine, distributed to over
1,200,000 agents nationwide. Her eleventh article was recently
published in the August 2006 issue.
Most of these articles appear under
“The Law” section of the magazine, advising agents
how to better serve their clients and avoid lawsuits. Barbara
has also written “You Must Have Inspection Protection”,
an informative pamphlet available for agents to gift to their
clients.
Barbara's ongoing experience as
a Broker, General Contractor, expert witness and educator are
combined with service as a member of the Grievance and Professional
Standards Committee for her local Association of REALTORS®.
With this unique background and
experience, and with a sincere desire to advance the professionalism
of the real estate community, Barbara produced "How
to Stay Out of Court", a Risk Management course.
The course was written from the perspective of a real estate agent,
for real estate agents and Brokers, and is applicable to any type
of real estate transaction.
